Hello everyone and welcome back.
In todays post I want to talk a bit about soft-lifestyle and why I am implementing that lifestyle into mine. You may also notice that this post is coming a couple of days later than normal and that is due to us being on vacation and some lack of inspiration. Yet, here I am showing up for myself and my promise to post a blogpost each week.
The Definition of Soft-Life:
“Soft life refers to a lifestyle of comfort and relaxation with minimal challenges or stress.” – dictionary.com
This type of definition can be interpret in various ways. Some would think of people who would like to always have money and time to travel, eat out everyday, drive expensive cars ect ect.
For others it could simply be that they want a quieter and calmer life. A life where they take care of themselves and have a home that makes them relax. This will look different for everyone.
My Soft- Life
For me a soft-life is planning ahead of time, taking time to lay in bed reading. Self- care, and actually relax when I am relaxing.
It’s a home that feels calm and welcoming. A place where we are mindful and kind. Where there is room for mistakes, emotions and laughter. A place where we have fun and enjoy eachothers company. A soft life for me is being in tune with my body, my emotions and hormones. Here I have a long way to go still, but I am working on it everyday. A soft life is not about being “lazy” and not working. It’s more about how you show up for things. Do you show up stressed or calm to work? If you meet some challenges at work, how do you meet them? Do you get angry and start to complain or argue? or do you take a deep breath and handle it professionally?
I read a blogpost about soft-lifestyle and why the author of this article ment that it was dangerous for people to take on a soft-lifestyle. And in that post she mentioned the word sacrifice multiple times and how important it was to make sacrifices and work hard. But for most of us a real soft-lifestyle is about how you approach things.
What I mean:
– Planning: by planning I am thinking of actually write down in my calender when I have appointment for things, when I am working, when we are traveling somewhere, aka schedueling. Also when planning for trips, it could be as simple as scheduel a specific time for packing so you stay calm and collected when packing. Check the weather-report for where you are going and pack for that. When you plan ahead of time and scheduel for things it becomes easier to stay mindful of what and how much you pack. And for planning and schedueling in general it will most likely help your body and mind to stay calm.
– Taking time: as I have mentiond in a previous post I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and that means I have my challenges with how my body works and therefor need to find ways to make it easier for my body to wind down. And it’s here soft- life works wonders for me. By taking time to stay in bed reading or working with either School of Self- Image or this blog I am nurturing my body and mind. When I stay in bed, either to work or just relax with a book I let my body and mind know that it’s time to get out of “fight and flight”-mode and lower my shoulders. This is something my body needs on a regular basis and therefor I take time to do it. It’s a non negotiable.
– Self-care: I have been talking about self-care in a previous post named Self-Care so if want to read that then go head. But all in all, self-care is helping me become a better person, for myself, my man and my son.
Love
Emilie Cathrin
