Have you ever felt that your mood suddenly changes the moment you change your clothes? When you put on a beautiful summerdress that flows just right and you feel so free and light. Or that jeans and top that are beautiful but never felt right. This is the topic for this weeks post. So keep reading.
What one dress taught me
When I came up with this topic I was wearing a cute wrapdress in light blue with white tiny flowers and frills. And the moment I put it on mood shifted drasticly. I went from being energetic and so game on after a good yoga session to being down and unmotivated. I felt off.
I figured it might be because I was hungry so I ate, but still, my mood was really off. I was at our local library and sat with a beautiful view over the sea. This normaly give me so much inspiration for topics to write about, but not this time. I started to scroll through social media and looking for other things to do. And then I looked down on my dress and realized it was because of the dress.
Even though the dress is really cute and light and very summery, it was not me and it didn’t represent the woman I am or want to be.
On the positive side of wearing the dress is the fact that this post is only live because of the dress.
One goal
So one of my goals this month is to really look at the clothes I own and go deep into what they do with my mood and if they represent the woman I am and want to be. So I will take a picture of my outfits every day this month and make a donatebag for the clothes I am not keeping anymore.
I am actually pretty good with going through my clothes on a regular basis, but sometimes we have pieces that was on point for a few years and then the next year it’s not working anymore. So I am now going to go through my wardrobe every quarter of the year so my clothes always reflects who I am and who I want to be.
“No one is seeing me”
I know how easy it is to just put something old and worn on when we are just staying home and don’t plan on seeing anyone and therefore thinking “no one is seeing me so it doesn’t matter what I wear”. But YOU are seeing yourself and YOU MATTER!
How we dress is reflecting the way we think and show up for ourselves. I know it’s easier said then done. There is so many beautiful loungeset that not only looks beautiful but also is comfortable, with high quality fabrics that makes you feel relaxed and good.
In many occasions there is actually easier and more comfortable putting on a dress instead of jeans and a top/sweater.
Think about the person you want to be and how she shows up for herself. Does your clothes reflect that person? Maybe it’s time to go through your wardrobe and firstly get rid of everything that doesn’t fit size wise (both too small and too big) and then go through everything that is left and only keep the pieces that reflect the person you want to be.
And then when you get dressed for the day. Dress for the person you want to be showing up as and not what your mood is telling you!
Everyone changes
Remember that everything and everyone is changing. No one stays the same their whole life. We all have different stages of life and our style should always evolve to reflect who we want to become.
